Dr. Armbrust earned his medical degree at Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago . He continued his medical training with an internship at Milwaukee County General Hospital. He then completed his residency in neurosurgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee

One of the three senior members of the group, Dr. Armbrust began his private practice at Neurological Associates, Inc. in 1992. A former Chief of Staff at Charleston Area Medical Center in 2000. he has served as Chief, Department of Neurological Medicine and Chief, Section of Neurosurgery. Dr. Armbrust belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the West Virginia Medical Society, and the Kanawha County Medical Society.
